Men of Action

Men of Action is a bold, challenging, adventuresome outreach ministry. It is the vehicle through which volunteer laymen reach out in ministry to the local church, community, conference, state, nation, and world in response to the call for help in times of crisis, disaster, or great need. Men of Action will help meet those calls for assistance with physical, spiritual, and financial support.

Men of Action will provide the opportunity for Pentecostal Holiness men to become involved in a unique way to share Christ. All men have special and individual talents, abilities, and spiritual gifts and need to use them in practical, daily ministry in response to the Great Commission. Men volunteering to share their labor and spiritual witness for the benefit of others is a ministry whose time has arrived.

Men of Action is an organized effort of the Pentecostal Holiness Church at the local, conference, national, and international levels to minister and witness to people who have special needs and who, without this effort, could be otherwise bypassed.
MEN OF ACTION IS
  • taking Christian love into all situations of need, into all places where persons are victims of societys indifference and complexity.
  • the work of dedicated Christians who go beyond their narrow circle of concern and become involved in meeting the crucial needs of others in the name of Jesus Christ.
  • Love in Action!

The people in the 21st-century world who need special witness and ministry are everywhere. These people will not be reached for the Lord and His church unless they are given extra attention. In working to meet the total needs of others, the Christian is spiritually rewarded, and the church extends its outreach in the community.

The Men of Action ministry is for every man. There are three different types of men in our congregation: first, the go-getter, the man who loves to participate in as many events as possible (these men are leaders). Second, there are men who would like to get involved but sit on the sidelines because they feel they are not as qualified as the leader. They dont come forward to volunteer, but if asked to help will become a vital part of the group. Third, there are those men who feel that church is a Sunday affair and dont feel a real commitment to work for the Lord.
FAITH AND WORKS LOVE AND SERVICE
Faith and works go together. The faith in Jesus as Savior leads to works of love in obedience to Gods will (James 1:26; 2:15-18). The person who truly loves God loves his fellowman (I John 4:19-21). Christian love is not merely expressed in words. It must be true love, which shows itself in action (John 3:18).

Jesus taught that love was the most important virtue. He indicated that the whole law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets were wrapped up in two commandments, which are to love God and to love your neighbor as you love yourself (Matt. 22:37-40). Jesus made it clear that love for a neighbor must be equal to the love of self. It involves helping a stranger. As the parable of the Good Samaritan shows, love calls for action to care for the needs of anyone who hurts. The last verse in this parable is a direct command to "go and do likewise."

Closely related to love in Jesus teachings is service. Jesus made it clear that His disciples are to serve, not to be served. He declared, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45, NIV)

As servants, individual Christians are to search for ways to help care for the needs of people. A church as a group of believers is also to function as a servant. A church does not exist to be served by a community but to serve a community in Jesus name. Luke stated that Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil (Acts 10:38, NIV). His days were spent caring for total needs physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional. He took time to care for all types of people (Matt. 9:1-7, 15:21-22; Mark 7:24-30, 10:13-14; Luke 7:1-17, 8:1-3, 18:35-43, 19:1-10; John 4:1-25, 46-53).
